Written by Ben Blaschke

Studio City was the venue this week for the premiere of Our 17, a film directed by local Macau director Emily Chan and shot with the support of Melco Crown Entertainment last summer.

Shown to an audience of around 500 guests, including Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR, Dr Alexis Tam; Chairman and CEO of Melco Crown Entertainment, Mr Lawrence Ho; and Chairman of Executive Committee, Foundation of Cultural Industry of Macau, Mr. Leong Heng Teng, Our 17 tells the story of a group of middle school students pursuing their dreams.

Speaking at the premiere, Dr Tam said, “I would like to congratulate Ms. Emily Chan for the success of Our 17. It has certainly become Macau’s pride. As a movie enthusiast, I am very supportive of local young people’s dreams to make movies. The Government has been committed to the diversification of Macau’s economy, and created some good platforms including scholarships and grants for young talents in the film and television production spectrum of creative and cultural industry to pursue their dreams.”
