Big Jim's weekend preview

Written by James Potter

Enough about the Olympics, let’s get down to business! We’re approaching the serious part of the season in Australian football, rugby league and rugby union.

In the AFL, eight of the nine games this weekend will have an impact on the finals as it has been such a competitive year. This is a really hard round of football to pick and it’s possible that the underdogs could cause some upsets, so the best advice I can give is look for value.

In the rugby league, there are only three weeks to go until the finals, and their competition is even more competitive than the AFL. Again, keep the underdogs in mind and look for value. I particularly like St George on Monday night to beat the Cowboys at a juicy price.

The international rugby union goes into overdrive this weekend as the Wallabies take on the All Blacks. Will the All Blacks continue to dominate or will the South African and Australian teams rebound and reclaim some pride in their jerseys? The other big question is how will the Argentine Pumas fare taking on the best of the best? There will be some great rugby and if the Aussies are going to beat the All Blacks, this Saturday is the day.

I will be giving you plenty of tips on baseball over the next few weeks as we approach the playoffs.

Good luck and good punting.
