Everyone’s an artist on the city stage

Written by Yuci Tai

The 13th Macao City Fringe Festival 2013 is coming from 9 to 24 November. Macau will become a giant stage, bringing you a variety of music, dance, drama, street performances and much more. First held in 1999, the Macau City Fringe Festival has been committed to letting local artists and residents participate in various activities scattered throughout the city. At the same time, it strives to foster cultural and creative talents in Macau via different arts groups. The ultimate goal is to diversify arts and cultural development and to inspire everyone in the city to show their potential in the arts.

I want to recommend my favorite activity, which also happens to be the main attraction of the Fringe Festival – the “Fringe Parade” will be arranged by schools, associations, artists and arts organizations around the world on Sunday 24 November. The mighty parade team will wear fancy dress with homemade creations, removable art installations and homemade musical instruments showcasing multicultural arts from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to Leal Senado Square. You can even be a member of them too!

In addition, “Tap Seac Art Fair” will be held from 17:00 to 22:00 every Friday to Sunday from 23 November at the Tap Seac Square. Sale sections of environmentally friendly products, fashion accessories, handicrafts and creative food will be on show – all of which are original creative products. The stage performances, workshops and exchange meeting will all be held at the same time.
