Resorts World Manila has just finished hosting the latest event on the Asian Poker Tour. There is little doubt now that Resorts World is the premier poker venue in the Philippines. It is a fine example of a casino that is doing everything right.
The Philippines was always going to be a big mountain for Resorts World to climb. After all, they were the first real rival to be granted a license by PAGCOR and take on the PAGCOR owned casinos.
Not only has Resorts World flourished in this environment, they are taking all competition in their stride. They have achieved this with a combination of many things. They have three fantastic hotels which cater to the top and bottom end of the market. There is great food, shopping, cinemas, entertainment and most importantly well run gaming which is keeping the punters happy.
The property backs onto a great golf course and I have to say Resorts World is one of the best places to stay, play and party. It is close to the airports, the nightlife of Makati and everything one of the world’s biggest cities has to offer is close and easily accessible. There is a great high rollers room and sports bar, and the main gaming floor has the perfect mix of excitement and accessibility.
The Philippines will be a serious player in the gaming landscape in the years to come but they already have one world-class facility which many of the region’s casinos could learn a lot from.
