Swim into The World of Water Aurora

Written by Yuci Tai

MGM Grande Praça has long been considered among the more striking architectural spaces in Macau but there is no better time to saunter down than now. Adding a bright and colorful new element to their spectacular domed courtyard, MGM has turned Grande Praça into an underwater world with a breathtaking five-meter diameter, 8.3 meter tall cylindrical aquarium where you can meet thousands of fish face to face! Why not say hi to a lovely Tomato Clownfish or a cool little shark in this stunning 360 degree tank?

In addition to a variety of beautiful fishes, The World of Water Aurora has also had artificial corals and sands added that look just like the real thing. The exhibit includes three Black Tip Reef Sharks from the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia and a school of thousands of fish including Golden Trevally, Red Emperor Snapper and Round Faced Batfish. The schooling fish are all from the Hainan province of China. It is also equipped with LED lights that change color, producing a range of moods and dramatic aurora-like effects as day moves into night.

During this exhibition, MGM’s mascot Leo de diver, Philip the shark, Sammy the fish and a crew of antique divers will do a meet-and-greet where you can have your picture taken with them, adding entertainment to the whole experience. Furthermore, visit the iPhone App Store or Android App on Google Play to download the “MGM Aurora” application. By scanning any “Discover the Wonders of MGM Aurora” image you will immediately be transported into a magnificent underwater realm!

The exhibition is open 24 hours a day. Admission is free.
