WSOP nearing November Nine

Written by Ben Blaschke

The World Series of Poker Main Event is reaching the business end of the tournament and while our CEO Andrew W Scott, who wrote this update on his progress at the end of Day 3, was ultimately eliminated shortly after making the money, there are still a few dozen players still dreaming of the huge US$10 million first prize.

There isn’t a whole lot to cheer for from an Asian perspective with no one able to make a particularly deep run, but there are some familiar faces as far as the poker world is concerned – none moreso than American Mark Newhouse who is looking to reach his second consecutive WSOP final table after finishing eighth 12 months ago.

Also still in the running with less than 50 players remaining is Leif Force, who finished 11th in the 2006 Main Event and won a bracelet in 2012; and Ivey Poker’s Dan Smith.

Play is scheduled to continue until just 27 players remain today before they return tomorrow to play to the final nine.
