Chinese New Year at the Venetian

Written by Ben Blaschke

If the traditional celebrations that will light up Macau this weekend aren’t enough, the Venetian will again play host to a stunning 3D festival at its outdoor lagoon.

Running until 22 February, festivities include the 3D light and sound spectacular “Seasons of Prosperity” in which New Year images will be beamed onto the Venetian’s façade while mini-models of traditional Chinese New Year activities and 3D illusion paintings will also be on display.

The festival includes a cultural exhibition of monkey sculptures under the title of “Creative Creatures – Art and the Chinese Zodiac.” A total of 25 local artists have each hand-decorated a fibreglass monkey in their own inimitable style – a wondrous free display for locals and visitors alike.
