Well, we are right in the heart of the Olympics and the highlight this weekend will be the track and field events. Will Usain Bolt, the Jamaican legend, show us that he really is the greatest? Will the Jamaicans beat the US? Which Kenyan will be crowned the king of the long distance races? Will the locals manage to have some gold medal highlights?
The cycling at the Velodrome will also be a highlight this weekend, and for those of you who find road racing a little boring, the sprints and team pursuit will see your need for speed and high thrill spills well and truly covered.
The team sports will also start to get interesting with basketball, hockey, football, water polo and handball all heading towards the quarter and semi-finals. Make sure you take a look at the US men’s basketball team as you’ll probably never get another chance to see the likes of Kobe and LeBron playing on the same team.
Every other sport in the world is taking a back seat to the Olympics at the moment, but the Super 15 final from New Zealand is a must-see event. The Chiefs should prove too good for the Sharks who have defied the odds to get this far.
The AFL and NRL in Australia should also be tantalizing to watch this weekend as both competitions approach the finals.
So grab some beers, order some pizza and sit back and enjoy a weekend where too much sport is not enough.
Good luck and good punting.
