It was never going to match the whopping field of 891 players that swarmed the PokerStars LIVE room at City of Dreams in April but with 645 taking their seats for the latest installment of the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon there was plenty to be pleased about.

In the end it was Britain’s Tom Alner who went all the way to collect the HK$823,000 first prize, however the most significant aspect to come out of the main event would have to be the fact that the nine players on the final table represented eight different nations including China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Portugal, the UK, Russia and New Zealand. Macau might not be the center of the poker world just yet but such a vast array of players can only be a good sign.

This latest running of the Macau Poker Cup boasted a schedule of 11 events and saw a total of 2,092 players take part along the way.

Meanwhile, the main event saw a number of well-known players head to Macau with Bryan Huang, recent Sydney Championships winner Daniel Laidlaw and APT Macau champ Henrik Tollefsen among those to make the money.

The next major tournament series to be held at the PokerStars LIVE room will be the ACOP Platinum Series from 12 September to 15 September 2013.
