It’s closing in on two years since poker in Macau finally found a permanent home at City of Dreams – now players in the Philippines have received a similar boost with the new PokerStars LIVE Manila room launching at City of Dreams Manila over the weekend.
The second of four integrated resorts planned for Manila Bay’s Entertainment City area to open, City of Dreams Manila commenced its casino operations yesterday with a subdued “soft” opening ahead a grand launch in early 2015. But it didn’t take long for the poker room to be put through its paces with a series of freerolls into the upcoming Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Main Event held to celebrate the opening.
The PokerStars LIVE Manila room boasts 12 tables and will be the venue for the next APPT Manila in August, 2015, with more tournament series likely to be announced in the coming months.
It also adds another venue to the burgeoning poker scene in the Philippines which has seen Resorts World Manila host APT and APPT events in recent years and Solaire host the inaugural WPT National Philippines event in October.
The WPT happened to be in Manila to welcome the WPT to town and it was certainly hard to miss the impressive golden cube-shaped structures that comprise City of Dreams starting to take shape, so we look forward to seeing what it has to offer in the coming months.
