This week I will end up giving seven different tips for six different sports – and they don’t even include rugby union or AFL! That’s how much sport is on at the moment.
The Manchester United v Chelsea clash on Monday night tops the billing and will act as the cherry on top of the sundae that is this weekend’s line up of sport. It would be naive to ponder what bearing this clash might have on the eventual outcome of the EPL season at this early stage but there is no doubt it looms as an important one for both clubs as they look to settle into life under their new managers. This is United’s first home game after some big changes over the off-season and hunger won’t be a problem for either team. I consider it a must-watch game but am confident Chelsea can at least come away with a draw.
In golf, the Barclays is on this weekend and the tournament is also the first round of the knock-out stage of the FedEx Cup so the world’s best golfers will be strutting their stuff at the course with the million dollar view. This is one of the most fascinating events on the calendar so make sure you tune in.
The fastest men on four wheels are back after a few weeks break and will be burning rubber in Belgium. No doubt the boys let their hair down somewhat during their little holiday but hopefully championship leader Sebastian Vettel isn’t suffering from too much of the good life. I expect him to be back to his best in Europe.
The fifth Ashes Test from the Oval in London is the Aussies’ last chance to show the English what they are made of. This will make for some great viewing before the teams get ready for the limited overs games and then the return Ashes series back in Australia in a few months.
On top of that we have rugby league, rugby union, Australian Rules footy, tennis and baseball for your viewing pleasure. If you can’t find something to whet your appetite this weekend you can’t seriously call yourself a sports lover!
Good luck and good punting.
