WGM’s tip for 12 July: The Netherlands

Tonight sees Brazil and the Netherlands face off in the play-off for third at this year’s World Cup and it will be interesting to see how each side responds after the disappointment of losing their respective semi-finals during the week.

Although the host nation will be keen for redemption following their 7-1 humiliation at the hands of Germany, they could be in for another torrid outing in this clash – not to mention the fact that surely their confidence has been shattered. Although the Dutch aren’t as methodically organized as Germany, they do boast some real attacking threats and as we’ve already seen Brazil’s defence doesn’t cope too well against top class opposition.
