Real Madrid play host to Bayern Munich tonight in what shapes up as one of the great Champions League match-ups of all time. Bayern Munich has been the dominant force in Europe over the past 12 months. Champions League winners last year, they also went on a remarkable 53 match winning streak in Germany’s Bundesliga spanning the past two seasons and currently sit a massive 17 points clear of nearest rivals Dortmund.
Despite that stunning record, we actually like Real in this one based on recent form. Bayern have dropped off in recent weeks with two losses and just one win in their past four games, while Real has been scoring at will in La Liga and celebrated a memorable win over old rivals Barcelona in the final of the Copa del Ray last week. Confidence will be high.
