The weather is heating up which means there is no better time of year to head out for some fun and relaxation! For the artistic-minded, there is plenty for you to do this week with both the 24th Macao Arts Festival and the Macao International Film and Video Festival well underway. And music lovers are in for a treat too with the Macao Orchestra and pop singer Kary Ng performing in the coming days.

Napoleon and the Decorative Arts: Treasures of the Imperial Palaces
Catch a glimpse of French history and culture through this exhibition in which 125 pieces of Empire style furniture and decorative arts from the Napoleonic palaces are showcased outside France for the very first time!

Pablo Reinoso – Living Sculpture
Prepare to be wowed as renowned designer and artist Pablo Reinoso presents his Living Sculpture exhibition. These 11 unique sculptures are unlike any you’ve seen before as Reinoso uses everyday objects such as benches, ladders, spades and chairs against their grain – uniting opposites and mixing up materials such as wood, slate, brass, marble and steel. Let your imagination run free!

The Venetian Carnevale
The Venetian Carnevale is coming back on a scale that you’ve never seen before! From 25 April to 26 May 2013 you can get a taste of authentic Italian culture through the huge range of festivities, including Bandaloop performances, 3D laser-mapped light and sound projection, street entertainment, art exhibitions and more!

Macao Annual Visual Arts Exhibition – Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy

Aimed at promoting home grown talent and encouraging local artists to exhibit their work, this year’s Macau Annual Visual Arts Exhibition features Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy with 81 chosen works reflecting the current trends in these areas in Macau.

It includes pioneering works in the fields of Chinese Painting, Calligraphy, Seal Carving and Experimental Ink wash.

Macao International Film and Video Festival – Macao Indies
Now into its seventh year, the Macau International Film and Video Festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers from around the globe to showcase their works. One of the more popular features is the Macao Indies which serves as a platform for showcasing independent works from local filmmakers. Films hand-picked by a panel of judges as well as productions commissioned by the Macao Cultural Centre under the “Local View Power” project will be shown with short feature and animation styles being added to the list in 2013.

Italian Scent
The Macao Orchestra and Maestro Arvo Volmer (pictured) of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra present Italian Scent – a symphonic exploration of Italy through the individual perspectives of a Russian, a German and an Italian composer. Featuring works from Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and Respighi, this unique performance will take you on a journey through Italy as it evokes enchanting landscapes and sounds from the pastoral countryside and bustling city.

Kary Ng The Present Concert
The Venetian Macau hosts Hong Kong pop singer Kary Ng this Saturday night in what promises to be a spectacular performance. Renowned for her eccentric on-stage costumes, Kary Ng – also known as Lady K – is a former member of all-girl band Cookies and rock band Ping Pung but has enjoyed a successful solo career since releasing her debut album in 2006. Singing in both English and Cantonese, don’t miss Lady K as she presents her The Present Concert.
