There is nothing like a great Broadway hit to build the excitement as The Addams Family comes to town for a magnificently macabre and humorous musical that will leave everyone truly ecstatic! And don’t miss, Sally Yeh’s Intimately Yours 2013 show at the Venetian!

Brewing Oolong
The “Taste the Tasty Culture” programme continues its fascinating exploration of Chinese teas this month with an expert examination of the properties of Oolong – arguably the most famous beverage of all. To develop the distinctive aroma of Oolong, specific requirements must be met such as the amount of tealeaves, water temperature, steeping time and brewing method, which a tea specialist will demonstrate with a porcelain Chinese Yixing tea set whilst explaining the different methods adapted by Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwanese tea drinkers.

Yueju Opera celebrates a decade of UNESCO recognition
Yueju Opera (Cantonese Opera) – distinguished by its plain yet bold performing skills including single foot, stopping, moving eyes, somersaulting and trenching – can be traced back over 300 years. Prevalent throughout southern China, Yueju Opera is listed under “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO. This week, enjoy the Yueju Opera Gala in this cultural salute to a world-renowned art as well as the Xiangshan Yueju Opera Gala starring the Xiangshan Cantonese Opera Troupe and local performers.

Fans can also expect to see Yeh show off her hot Latin dance skills on stage.

In Good Season – Works by Coke Wong
Fascinated by all things military since his childhood and widely read on the subject, veteran local sculptor and educator Coke Wong poses as a war correspondent in this exhibition to remind his audience of the stupidity of conflict, whilst reflecting on the idiosyncrasies of human civilization via 20 of his sculptures and installation art works.

Fado performance in Wine Museum
Employing maps, texts, photos and videos to relate the history of wine and vineyard terrain, the Wine Museum presents a comprehensive education of viniculture, with the emphasis on Portuguese wine-producing regions as well as references to winemaking in China. Visitors can also taste the wine as well as catching atmospheric performances of Fado – a traditional form of Portuguese music infused with sentiment and melancholy.

Cultural Activities in Coloane Square
A good place to start this month is Eduardo Marques Square in old Coloane Village. Taipa Flea Market is easily accessible from Taipa High Street and comprises dozens of stalls selling hundreds of fascinating items! The Glorious Era of Julius Caesar – Military Science and Technology in Roman Republic
