Nice work FIFA … No, seriously!

Written by James Potter

It is easy to fall into the trap of reporting only negatives and not positives. This is a particular problem when it comes to governing bodies of professional sporting institutions. These institutions are all too full of incompetent patsies who fly above condemnation due to having no checks or balances on their performances. Fear not! I will not relent in my crusade to point out this incompetence in the future but I also owe it to all to point out exceptionally good work on the rare occasions I see it.

I was discussing World Cup Qualification with a friend the other day and as always, Google was my friend.

After a quick search I was off to: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/index.html

Bad sporting websites drive me crazy but this one is better than very good, it is excellent. I found that it answered all the questions I had about World Cup qualification around the globe. I like the fact that they have broken it down into the zones of qualification, which makes sense as this is how qualification is organized. Then you can choose a wide range of information with results, standings, formats and all other relevant information available in a clear and concise manner.

More often than not these days I visit websites and it takes me half an hour to find the most basic of information. Some organizations must try and hide the information that the majority of visitors want under an avalanche of irrelevant crap. Maybe this is a ploy to keep you at their website longer. Anyway, FIFA, I hope you enjoy this small amount of positive feedback. I wish it was something like installing video technology on the goal lines but at least this is a step in the right direction for an organization that usually makes a mockery of common sense.
