The world’s number one tennis player starts his 2014 Australian Open campaign with a tough Round 1 encounter against local hope Bernard Tomic. This isn’t an easy match for Nadal by any means – Tomic reached the final of the Sydney International last week and is considered a star of the future.
But he still has a long way to go to match the class of the game’s top echelon and Nadal’s fearsome ground strokes should prove too much for the young Australian.
