WGM’s tip for 14 June: England

This may seem like a slightly unlikely pick. England hasn’t exactly set the world alight at recent World Cups and they couldn’t have picked a much tougher opener in Brazil than this clash with giants Italy.

But we like the look of this England side. They’ve adopted somewhat of a youth policy this time around and with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling drafted in we can expect them to play an attacking style as well. It will be interesting to see whether their “Liverpool” connection gives them an edge.

The Italians are notoriously tough to break down but if England find form they will be just as tough to stop.
