A busy weekend of sport starts with the latest clash of the big guns at the ICC Cricket World Cup as New Zealand play host to England in Wellington today. The Kiwis thrashed Sri Lanka in their tournament opener before taking their foot off the pedal in a sloppy win over minnows Scotland.
We expect them to lift their intensity again today though against an England side still reeling from their 111-run loss to Australia last week. New Zealand looks to have far too many weapons here for England, who are low on confidence and with a number of their key players horribly out of form.
The EPL is back following last weekend’s round of FA Cup fixtures and our pick of the round is West Ham’s trip to London rivals Tottenham. The Hammers have been the surprise packets of the season and it wasn’t so long ago they found themselves in the top four, but that run looks to have come to an end following a three game winless streak. Spur’s were unlucky to lose a thriller 3-2 at Liverpool last start but their recent form has been very good – especially at home with three consecutive wins including that 5-3 result over Chelsea. Tottenham to win.
Finally we’re off to Southampton on Sunday where Liverpool will look to maintain their unbeaten record in 2015. The Saints have performed well above expectations this season given the Reds plucked their best talent in the off-season and they will be keen for revenge in this one, however on form we just can’t see anything but a Liverpool win. They are playing some superb football at the moment and have rediscovered their scoring touch with Daniel Sturridge back on the park. Even Mario Balotelli finally scored his first Premier League goal for the club last week!
