Cambodia ups the ante

Written by Ben Blaschke

Cambodia is upping the ante when it comes to promoting itself as both a tourist destination and an alternative gaming destination to Macau, with local carrier Cambodia Bayon Airlines offering an expanded service featuring weekend flights between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.

The 35-minute flights will be available on Friday and Sunday afternoons and come as a huge boost for the coastal province of Sihanoukville given the chaos on Cambodia’s clogged roads at these times. The combination of extra trucks, motorcycles and holiday-goers makes for a trip that can take up to five hours.

Sihanoukville boasts a total of 10 casinos and is rapidly growing as a picturesque tourist destination with its many beachside resorts.

Queenco Hotel and Casino will also host APT Cambodia from 20 to 28 October, making the event much more accessible for players planning to fly in for the event.
