Good Food Guide: Clube Militar De Macau

Written by The Panda

Inside this eye-catching pink and white historical building is the Clube Militar de Macau. Back in 1870, it served as a private members club for social and cultural activities for Portuguese military officers. Its restaurant opened to the public in 1995, which allows non-members to enjoy the classy experience of having an authentic Macanese feast in this elegant dining hall. The dedication to serve the best colonial food in Macau can easily be reflected in their extensive à la carte menu – one whole page of the menu is devoted to bacalhau (Portuguese style salted cod fish) dishes! The “Menu de Degustação” is another highlight in which a sample of every signature course is offered in tasting portions. I recommend the crab meat soup which has a fresh and smooth flavor of the sea.

Their Portuguese egg pudding is very traditional, with a strong caramel aroma and a hint of orange which balances out the sweetness perfectly. Clube Militar de Macau is definitely an insider choice for a flash back to an old high society type of dining experience.
