For the second day in a row we’re backing an Australian tennis player, with veteran Lleyton Hewitt ironically taking on another Australian in the first round of the Citi Open in Washington.
Why? For no other reason than we love the value in this one. Up and comer John-Patrick Smith has scored just two wins over top 100 players this year and although Hewitt has slipped down to 163 in the rankings in his farewell season he remains a tough nut to crack after leading his country to a famous win in the recent Davis Cup quarter-finals against Kazakhstan. His experience should see him through.
