APPT Macau is off to a lighting fast start with an impressive 752 players taking part in the first four events ahead of tomorrow’s Main Event.
Macau’s longest running tournament, the eighth running of APPT Macau has so far been highlighted by the HK$5,000 Warm-up which saw 308 players hit the felt to create a HK$1,344,420 prize pool. The top 38 players made the money with Germany’s Vincent Kohne outlasting the field to take home HK$302,120.
“We’re delighted with the response for the Warm-up event and hopefully that continues to build next week.” said APPT President Danny McDonagh. “This has been the most talked about APPT Macau since the record-setting Season 5 in 2011. We’re certainly optimistic about the main event on Wednesday.”
China’s Jixue Yin was the other notable story as he won his second tournament of the year in the HK$1,500 Knock-Out Bounty to move to fifth in the Asian Player of the Year standings.
The first flight of the HK$25,000 Main Event starts at 15:00 this Wednesday 21 May.
