The highlight of the international cricket calendar is without doubt a fiercely contested Ashes Series. Cricket doesn’t get any better than this and the build-up has been extraordinary. The question for us here at World Gaming is “where does the value lie?”
The clear value in this series appears to be with Australia causing an upset at the hands of their old foe. It would be a punter’s dream to take the Aussies at $4.50 to regain the Ashes then watch them crush the Poms!
Things are looking a lot better for the Aussies than they were a month ago, with spirits high since Darren Lehmann took over from Mickey Arthur as coach of the team. Which Australian player will benefit most from this coaching change? It appears Chris Rogers is one. He has been given first shot at opening the batting this series and at a price of $5.50 for most series runs for Australia he appears to offer some serious value.
On the English side of the ledger, I think there is value to be had on Joe Root at $6.00 for most series runs. I wonder if there is a price around for hardest jaw? After his dust-up with David Warner a few weeks back, this might also be a promising category for the young Englishman.
With question marks around the Aussie top order, I think the best option on any “most wickets” markets is to focus on the English quicks. Work around James Anderson and Stuart Broad and you won’t be too far off the mark. I for one can’t wait for this series. It should be a ripper!
