The Asia Championship of Poker starts tomorrow with the cream of the crop set to descend on Macau, but before that happens there is the small matter of some World Series of Poker bracelets to hand out. That’s right, the glamorous WSOP Europe is currently being held in Paris with a record eight bracelets on offer and Australia enjoying a brilliant start to the series.
It’s been a big year for the Asia-Pacific region with Malaysia’s Mervin Chan winning the Aussie Millions and Vietnamese-born JC Tran the chip leader ahead of November’s final table of the WSOP Main Event. Now it seems it is Australia’s turn to take center stage with Jackie Glazier winning her first ever bracelet after taking out the Ladies Event earlier this week.
Another Aussie, Daniel Laidlaw, finished fifth in the €1,100 NLHE re-entry while former ANZPT Melbourne winner Martin Kozlov has reached the final table of €1,650 Pot Limit Omaha event just a week after his deep run at EPT London.
Let’s hope the Asia-Pacific can continue to make its presence felt when the prestigious €10,000 WSOPE Main Event kicks off on Saturday.
