The stunning Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty form the backdrop for the Barclays this year at the stunning Liberty National Golf Course. The course has had its detractors over the years, especially Tiger Woods, which is a little strange considering the results in 2009 when this tournament was played here last.
Heath Slocum won that year but the top 10 included the likes of Woods, Els, Harrington, Stricker, Watney and Poulter. That suggests to me this is a course which suits good players. Let’s take our favorite “baldie” Matt Kucher for a top 5 finish. Back in 2009 he had two good rounds and two shockers, which is very un-Kucher like. We should get a nice payday if he can bring his normally reliable game to Jersey this weekend.
