Big Jim's weekend preview

Written by James Potter

The NBA finals will offer plenty of great action over the weekend. The Grizzlies muffed a huge opportunity to tie their series at one game apiece when they staged a heroic comeback in Game Two against the Spurs in San Antonio. They get to play the next three games at home but realistically need to win all three to have any real chance of reaching the final. The Pacers might be the second best team in the NBA at the moment but they have to beat the Heat and as I have said all year, the Heat is in a different class. So I expect the Grizzlies to be more than competitive at home and the Heat to make fairly easy work of the Pacers. It still looks like a Heat v Spurs final which will make for excellent viewing.

If you like Australian Rules footy there are some mouth-watering games to view this weekend. The Collingwood v Sydney clash and Richmond v Essendon are two that standout as absolute blockbusters. Both of these games are being played at the MCG on Friday and Saturday night so I expect huge crowds and two very close games as the bookies are finding it hard to separate the teams. My tips at the handicap for this weekend are as follows; Sydney, Port Adelaide, GWS, St Kilda, Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn, Adelaide and Fremantle.

There is plenty of tennis, golf, rugby and motor sports to keep you entertained as well. The French Open tennis and the State of Origin rugby league aren’t far off either so make sure you put them in the diary!

Good luck and good punting.
