It should be a great weekend of golf with the PGA Players Championship taking center stage at TPC Sawgrass. This tournament means a lot to all of the players – in part due to the huge prize pool on offer – and the best of the best will be there battling it out for the title. We have tipped Dustin Johnson due to the excellent value he is offering but there are a lot of solid chances. Don’t miss the action and let’s have our fingers crossed for Dusty.
The other huge sporting event taking place this weekend is the FA Cup final from Wembley. Many football aficionados consider the gloss of this piece of silverware has lost some of its luster over the last few decades. There is no doubt the Premiership race and the Champions League are the two most important titles for the big clubs in England but the FA Cup is a historic competition that still has its own place and charm. Wigan has an enormous challenge in front of them against the might of Manchester City, who will be looking to put their Premiership disappointment behind them with a win here. I hate to say it but City is a much stronger side than Wigan and should win this with ease.
Australian footy fans will have plenty to get excited about this weekend with a full round of games in the AFL, NRL and the Super 15s. I really like the Geelong Cats to score a big win over the Essendon Bombers on Friday night and I have that as my best bet of the weekend.
There is also basketball (keep sticking with the Thunder and the Heat), baseball and motor sport while the French Open tennis is only days away. Too much sport is never enough.
Good luck and good punting.
