Big Jim’s weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

Well, Tiger looked the winner after Day 2 of the US Open. He continued to do well on Day 3, but a few holes into Day 4 we could see he was slipping. He played some great golf at times, but Tiger is not judged as a mortal and he still has some demons when it comes to the final round of majors.

The last round was intense with McDowell, Furyk and Simpson battling it out to the bitter end. Finally, it was Simpson who kept his nerve when the others faltered, and the young American realized his golfing dream.

The NBA Championship has rolled into Miami. The Heat will be looking to win all three games at home, while the Thunder will be trying hard to sneak in at least one victory before going back to Oklahoma City for the final two games. This is great basketball, you just have to watch it!

International rugby was another highlight of the weekend with both Wales and Ireland giving Australia and New Zealand a run for their money. Both fell painfully close to recording historic wins, but both lost in the last few seconds of the game. There is no doubt that the Northern Hemisphere teams are starting to pick up their game, which is great news for world rugby.

Euro 2012 is about to get down to the knock out stage, which will provide some great action for all you football junkies. It’s just too hard to tip a winner at this point so I will stick with Spain, but there are plenty of possibilities and you might be better off looking for some good value.

Good luck and good punting.
