The NBA Finals are over and many of the questions NBA fans have been asking have finally been answered. Firstly, LeBron has arrived. His performance in the finals was awesome and he has won the title – probably the first of a few. He led from the front, scored when he needed to, and when the Thunder tried to stop him he dished it away for his teammates to score.
Miami is the best team in the competition. Their depth is excellent and the Thunder simply could not compete. The future for the boys from Oklahoma looks great – Durant is already a superstar and during these playoffs Westbrook proved that he is also a world-class player. The chief reason as to why the Thunder didn’t win this series is that the rest of the team failed to perform.
There hasn’t been too many surprises at Euro 2012. Spain and Portugal will meet in the semi-finals, in what might be the biggest game yet between these traditional rivals. Spain should prove too strong, but Portugal has an x-factor that can produce goals if they are lucky enough to deprive their incredibly gifted opposition. In the other semi-final the Germans will take on Italy. Germany will start favorite, but as I have said all along I think the Germans are capable of dropping this game.
The Welsh and Irish both lost their three-Test series against Australia and New Zealand, respectively. The Welsh should have won at least two of the three tests, and the Irish were stoic in Game 2 even though the All Blacks put them to the sword over the weekend. World rugby looks like it’s in good hands with more and more teams becoming competitive. The Super 15 season continues this weekend and the Four Nations starts later this year.
Hope you backed a few winners over the weekend.
Good luck and good punting.
