Crown Resorts cut 200 Perth jobs

Written by Ben Blaschke

New Crown Resorts Executive Chairman John Alexander promised last week that spending cuts were part of his immediate plans and it hasn’t taken long for those cuts to bite with reports that 200 Crown Perth staff have already been given their marching orders.

According to a report in Perth Now, Crown Perth confirmed the job losses on Tuesday, blaming difficult trading conditions in the months since 18 Crown Resorts staff were arrested in mainland China in October.

“A priority of ours is to support those affected by these changes. 5,500 people continue to work at Crown Perth and we have a strong commitment to their development and welfare,” a spokesperson said.

Crown Resorts announced last week that its VIP revenue had fallen 45.3 percent in the six months to 31 December 2016 – a result that saw CEO Rowen Craigie immediately relinquish his role.
