Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the arrest of renowned Macau casino and junket operator Jack Lam.
According to a statement by Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa, Lam – #44 in our sister magazine Inside Asian Gaming‘s Asian Power 50 this year – is wanted on charges of bribery and economic sabotage after allegedly trying to bribe Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and PAGCOR Chairperson Andrea Domingo (#45 in the Asian Power 50) to release 1,000 Chinese nationals arrested for illegal gambling last month.
Domingo has also been ordered to shut down all of Lam’s gaming operations, which include his Jimei Group VIP Club at Solaire Resort & Casino.
Dela Rosa has said he will ask President Duterte if a reward will be offered for anyone providing information on Lam’s whereabouts.
Jimei Group owns and operates the highly successful Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino at Clark Special Economic Zone in the Philippines.
