Tourists are always looking for good, local food in Macau, but are maps and food guides really providing honest reviews? Stick with WGM’s Good Food Guide and check out Kwan Chai Restaurant in the Fai Chi Kei district (near the Canidrome). The boss, brother Kwan, has been awarded many food industry prizes for his high quality ingredients. With such a cold lingering winter, hot pot is a great choice. There are unique hot pot soups to choose from, such as coconut pollen pigeon pot. The first pot uses chicken pot fin soup. Two pigeons, coconut and pollen are added to help cleanse and detoxify the body.
Another popular soup is shark fin and chicken feet barrel, which includes pig bone barrel, chicken feet, turnip, corn and shark fin, all in a chicken base broth. Drop some of brother Kwan’s homemade cuttlefish balls and enjoy the incredible taste. For those not very hungry, try the Thai iced fresh shrimps, a dish that stimulates the appetite.
