Ho Tram staff test out the APT tables!

Written by Ben Blaschke

The Ho Tram Poker Room finalized preparations for the inaugural APT Vietnam with a special staff tournament last night. An impressive field of 147 staff of the Ho Tram Resort Casino enjoyed a laugh putting their poker dealer friends to the test with the fast structure ensuring there was action aplenty from the outset.

Short 20-minute levels ensured the staff tournament was run and won in just four-and-a-half hours, with Hoang Xuan Luyen – affectionately known as Nick – taking home bragging rights after outlasting the field to claim victory from runner-up Vo Tai Nang. More importantly though, Ho Tram Resort Casino’s team of dealers performed exceptionally well ahead of the Opening Event of APT Vietnam, which starts tomorrow.

Asian Poker Tour Tournament Director Lloyd Fontillas spent the duration of the staff event keeping a close eye on Ho Tram’s newly trained poker dealers and gathered the crew together afterwards to praise them for their progress in the lead-up to APT Vietnam. They were run through a final briefing before heading home to prepare for tomorrow’s Opening Event.

APT Vietnam is the first international poker festival to be held in the country with a number of big names confirmed to be taking part, including overseas Vietnamese JC Tran and Nam Le. Tran is no stranger to glory with two WSOP bracelets and two WPT victories to his name while Le has also won on the World Poker Tour.

The US$1,100 APT Vietnam Main Event starts this Friday 8 May with the final table scheduled for Tuesday 12 May.
