An employee of one of the subcontractors building Imperial Pacific International LLC’s (IPI) Imperial Pacific Resort on Saipan was killed on site earlier this week, the company has revealed.
In a statement late Wednesday, Chairman Mark Brown said IPI was currently investigating the incident, with local media reporting that the worker fell from scaffolding.
“The circumstances surrounding this morning’s tragic events are still under investigation by authorities,” Brown said.
IPI has, “expressed serious concern regarding the accident and we have again advised our subcontractors to exercise Safety First at the construction site. IPI’s construction team is comprised of world class professionals who will ensure construction of a world class resort while taking measures to ensure workers’ safety at all times.
“We wish to express our most sincere sympathy and deepest condolence to the deceased and his family during this difficult time.”
The deceased man is said to be a Chinese national with emergency services treating the death as accidental.
