It's our birthday, but you get the present!

This article first appeared in the Nov/Dec 2011 issue of World Gaming magazine.

In three short years it has become a tradition that we have our annual major party on the second Friday in December each year, and this year will be no different. In 2009 it was our launch party, in 2010 it was our first birthday and on the night of Friday 9 December 2011 World Gaming will celebrate our second birthday with yet another huge party in Macau. This night will also mark the launch of our brand new wgm8.com website.

World Gaming magazine is proud to be celebrating two wonderful years in Macau. 2011 has been another triumph, with WGM becoming the most recognized and trusted gaming media brand not only in Macau, but the broader Asian region. We have seen our distribution grow rapidly and we now boast a truly international product that promotes the joys of gaming in Asia – a region that is undoubtedly the most important in the world to the gaming industry.

After last year’s fantastic party at The Sands Playboy Club Macao, we have decided on a change of scenery. The venue will be at a mystery Macau location that will be emailed just before the party to those lucky enough to get themselves on the guest list!

We look forward to a night of fine food and beverages, exciting prizes and generally letting our hair down, for those of us that still have hair!

The evening will take on added significance with the launch of our highly anticipated new website at wgm8.com. We are the first to admit that in the last two years our primary focus has been our offline magazine and establishing our brand. We take great pride in our achievements to date and we believe in the quality of our content and have confidence in the magazine’s overall direction.

But there is no doubt the world is now in the digital age and it’s now time for WGM to concentrate on establishing Asia’s most informative online gaming website.

Our Director of Marketing Jeffrey Ng has spearheaded many long night’s work on the new website and our digital plans generally and is excited about our new direction.

“The world is changing quickly and the online world is becoming paramount. We are proud to feature detailed and lengthier articles in our paper magazine, but we recognize the need to provide punchy and regularly-updated content to those in cyberspace.”

Jeff is an expert in social media and is acutely attuned to the type of information people want to read online.

“Anything and everything the gaming enthusiast needs will be available at wgm8.com and through our broader digital media reach. We will offer up-to-the-minute gaming news and analysis, with a particular focus on Macau and the rest of Asia, all delivered in the unique World Gaming style our readers have come to know and love.”

“As always every word of our content will be in Chinese and English, and you will see new content almost every day. WGM8 members can expect to participate in weekly giveaways with the opportunity to win wonderful prizes. We will be embracing a variety of forms of social media and really engaging and interacting with our members.”

The countdown to the new wgm8.com is on, with the official launch at the party on December 9. That night the switch will be flicked and Macau and Asia will finally receive the quality online gaming information service they deserve.
