JC Tran and Nam Le confirmed for APT Vietnam

Written by Ben Blaschke

The inaugural APT Vietnam will see two of the world’s finest Vietnamese players in the field with JC Tran and Nam Le confirming they’ll be part of next week’s historic event at the Ho Tram Resort Casino.

Tran and Le boast around US$18 million in live tournament winnings between them but the opportunity to play in Vietnam’s first international poker festival promises to be a special moment in their respective careers.

There isn’t much the 38-year-old Tran hasn’t already achieved, with two WSOP bracelets and two WPT titles to his name. He also reached the final table of the 2013 WSOP Main Event – his fifth-place finish enough for the single biggest payday of his career at US$2.1 million.

Le burst onto the scene in 2006 by winning the WPT’s Bay 101 Shooting Star and boasts career tournament winnings of almost US$7 million. He has also enjoyed success closer to home before – having won the inaugural APPT Macau High Rollers event in 2008 for almost US$500,000 – but adding another title on home soil next week would certainly be an unforgettable achievement.

Poker has long had a strong player base in Vietnam but has previously lacked a venue of the standard required to host an event of this magnitude. The Ho Tram Resort Casino recently set about changing that by appointing WGM’s parent company World Gaming Group to oversee its poker operations. The Ho Tram Poker Room was subsequently opened two weeks ago with APT Vietnam giving players their first opportunity to experience this world class integrated resort.

APT Vietnam kicks off on Wednesday 6 May while the US$1,100 Main Event gets underway from Friday 8 May with the first of two Day1 flights.
