It’s been a busy week for poker in the Asia-Pacific. While the Macau Poker Cup is well underway in Macau, another major event has just finished up in Australia with the sixth edition of Sydney Championships at The Star.

The AU$3,000 buy-in Sydney Championships attracted a quality field of 235 players including 2005 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Hachem, 2010 Aussie Millions champ Tyron Krost as well as Didier Guerin, Tom Rafferty, Leo Boxell, Aaron Benton, Brendon Rubie and plenty more.

While Boxell was the only one of those to make it to the money, it was nevertheless one of the strongest final tables ever seen at a major championships in this part of the world with 2010 ANZPT Melbourne winner Martin Kozlov the chip leader ahead of the likes of 2009 Aussie Millions final tablist Sam Capra, 2011 ANZPT Sydney winner Michael Kanaan, Daniel Nielson and inaugural Sydney Championships winner and WSOP bracelet owner Jarred Graham.

Despite such a tough field alongside, it was Kozlov who would not only come out on top but completely dominate the final table – eliminating seven of his eight opponents in a stunning display of aggression and well-time gamble.

Kozlov added AU$171,080 in prize money to an impressive resume that now includes two major titles, WSOP and EPT final tables and around US$700,000 in cash.
