Macau’s gross gaming revenue rose 3.1 percent in January to MOP$19.26 billion, representing the sixth straight month of year-on-year growth.
However, it fell below expectations of a rise between 8 and 10 percent and was significantly lower than the 8 percent year-on-year increase enjoyed in December.
Despite signs that Macau’s recent recovery is starting to slow, January’s 3.1 percent growth is significantly better than 2016 when monthly GGR was down a whopping 21.4 percent from 2015 levels.
