New York deli Dean & DeLuca has opened its very first local café at Galaxy Macau.
Having originated in New York, world famous deli and specialty food purveyor Dean & DeLuca has opened its first Macau café at The Promenade at Galaxy Macau.
Founded in 1977, Dean & DeLuca – the brainchild of food connoisseurs Giorgio DeLuca and Joel Dean – opened its flagship store in Soho, New York with the goal of providing luxury, innovative food products. Its simplicity of design, culinary delights, refreshing beverages and premium quality retail products as well as its fresh baked cakes and pastries quickly saw the brand gain popularity among celebrities and foodies world-wide – becoming an icon of New York City culture and lifestyle.
Dean & DeLucaʼs newly opened 26-seat Macau café is located near the Jade Lobby and provides a subtle nod to the city’s Portuguese heritage via distinctive grey and white subway tiles and sumptuous Carrera marble. The contemporary interior includes shades of dusty blue, faded mint and grey, while linear lines of matte black shelves give structure to the minimalistic look.
Serving breakfast from 08:00, a wide selection of pastries is freshly showcased daily with other grab-and-go options including a range of pies such as Egg, bacon and cheese, Cauliflower, cheese and leek or Spinach and ricotta.
Gourmands can also take a seat in the dining area, relaxing and enjoying Dean & DeLuca’s signatures including Roast beef and caramelized pumpkin multigrain sandwich or Spicy prawns and guacamole with squid ink bun.
As a pioneer in multiculturalism and a symbol of the city’s openness, Dean & DeLuca has incorporated local Macanese elements into its products. Focaccia croquette and African chicken serve as good examples.
Pastries and sweets are also staples of the brand. Its New York cheesecake, Rainbow layer cake and Red velvet cake have won countless hearts since the New York store first opened 40 years ago.
For a more local flavor, guests will find such delicacies as Hong Kong milk tea Berliner and Yuzu meringue tart.
The shop also has a retail corner with seasonally selected premium quality products, including classic confectionary, cookies, coffee beans, tea and honey as well as Macau collectables such as classic tote bags, mugs and tumblers.
Keep an eye out too because Dean & DeLuca plans to open two more Macau cafés as well as a 700 square meter market in the near future.
