Poker King Club makes latest move

Written by Ben Blaschke

Macau’s Poker King Club (PKC) has a new home! Just a few months after making the move from its traditional base at Galaxy’s StarWorld to the more spacious confines of the Venetian, the PKC has finally been relocated to its permanent location in the Phoenix Hall of the Venetian’s main gaming floor and celebrated last Friday by hosting a special charity tournament boasting the likes of Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan, Tom Dwan and PKC President Winfred Yu.

With local celebrities and mainstream media in attendance, the single table charity event – which saw proceeds go towards helping children at Lar De Nossa Senhora Da Penha – lasted for about an hour before Chan prevailed in a short heads-up battle with Ivey.

The nine charity event players then took part in cutting the ribbon to officially open the new PKC room which will host both cash games and tournaments. Expect a significant announcement in regards to tournament poker in the coming days.

The PKC is best known as home of Macau’s famed “Big Game” although with two of its key players, Paul Phua and Richard Yong, currently banned from entering Macau the “Big Game” is most likely to be played in PKC’s other new poker room at Solaire in Manila for the time being.

Nevertheless, PKC staff were clearly excited about their new space at the Venetian on Friday which seems a much better fit than its former temporary spot in front of Morton’s. Located near Bellini, the new room has a large area available that looks well suited to tournament play while the tables themselves will come equipped with USB chargers and adjustable plush seating.

PKC is actively ramping up its visibility in Macau and we look forward to seeing what’s next on the agenda for them.
