The 8th Macau International Film and Video Festival Cinematic feast

The Macau Cultural Centre presents the 8th edition of the Macau International Film and Video Festival (MIFVF) from 27 March to 11 May, offering all you can watch delights from around the world. Cinema lovers will have a great chance to attend an exciting selection of international and local productions. With an eclectic selection of films, children, adults and families alike will have a taste of exotic delicacies served through motion pictures.

Thirteen International films feature a wide range of top-notch productions from around the world. These include features like Heli, a Mexican production which garnered the Best Director prize in Cannes; Witching and Bitching, a deliriously entertaining horror comedy by acclaimed director Álex de la Iglesia; The Square, a stunning documentary on the recent Egyptian revolution through the eyes of protesters; and Oh Boy which which won Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay at the German Film Awards 2013. There is also room for families with films like Aurelie Laflamme’s Diary (Canada), Chubby Drums (Netherlands) and Wunderkinder (Germany).

The vibrant “Macau Indies” is the most significant platform showcasing our own productions, featuring stories happening around us and offering the audience the chance to savor a taste of authenticity. It presents a wide variety of themes including features, animations and documentaries with a total of 26 local productions. All selected works from the open recruitment will be screened at the “Macau Indies” along with the premiere works of “Local View Power 2014”, a project commissioned by the Cultural Centre that is nurturing Macau’s film making.
