This past November was a hot and memorable month for poker. The biggest headline for sure was Pius Heinz of Germany who bested 6,864 players at the WSOP and banked a whopping US$8,715,638 for his champion finish.
Certainly, there’s no doubt that poker is heating up in Macau and PokerStars did it again by setting a new record of 575 entries for their APPT5 HK$30,000 main event. It was also the event that marked Phil Ivey’s return to tournament poker after a seven month hiatus. Another big name in the field was 10-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Johnny Chan. World Gaming friend and recent Epic Poker League runner-up David Steicke had an impressive run and finished in 9th. And oh yeah, World Gaming CEO Andrew Scott cashed in 61st. Hey boss, when’s that dinner you’ve been promising?
Special congratulations goes out to the Asian Poker Tour for the inaugural running of their Goa leg that saw 158 players enter the INR50,000 main event.
