The second semi-final of this year’s Asian Cup takes place tonight as host nation Australia takes on surprise packets UAE for a spot in the final. UAE stunned tournament favorites Japan in the quarter-finals but we can’t go past the Aussies here.
Japan’s wastefulness in front of goal was a key factor in their loss to UAE but we haven’t overlooked the fact that the Japanese enjoyed 67 percent of possession, 19 corners to none, 38 shots on goal to 8 and completed an incredible 716 passes to 266. Australia will expect to enjoy a similar level of dominance and it’s unlikely they will be as wasteful.
