WGM’s Best Weekend Bets: Fri 17 to Sun 19 April

We start another huge weekend of sport with tonight’s top of the table NRL clash between St George Illawarra and Brisbane in Sydney. This game pits the attacking mindset of the Broncos – who score points freely but also concede quite a few – against the defensive Dragons who don’t score many points but let in even fewer. The Dragons have actually conceded just 10 points total in their past three games which is a truly phenomenal effort and on their home soil we expect that defence to dominate once again.

It’s a huge clash in the Premier League on Saturday as Manchester United travel to Chelsea looking to continue their impressive run. Fresh from dominant wins over Liverpool and Manchester City, confidence is soaring and although this will be their biggest test to date there is no reason to believe United won’t lift again. We expect a close one here so the $1.75 on the Red Devils at +1 looks a great value bet.

Sunday sees Tottenham away at Newcastle as they look to keep their very slim top four hopes alive. This clash should help their cause. After a mid-season resurgence, Newcastle have hit the wall with five consecutive losses and all sorts of problems in front of goal. Tottenham haven’t been great either recently but will expect to grab all three points here.
