WGM’s tip for 16 January: Sri Lanka

Having hung on for a draw in the first Test, Sri Lanka came out a different team in the second Test last week to put Pakistan to the sword and secure an easy nine wicket win to take a 1-0 series lead into the third and final Test starting today.

Sri Lanka’s bowling attack might not be world beaters but in Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara they boast two of the world’s best batsmen. They have always been a team that performs far better when confident while Pakistan has faded towards the end of recent Test series and the signs aren’t good that they can turn it around here.
