The Major League Baseball season officially gets underway today in Sydney with the LA Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks playing two games at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
These sides finished first and second in the National League West last season and although the Dodgers reached the National League Championship Series, there wasn’t a lot between them during the regular season.
We like the Diamondbacks here – in no small part due to comments by a number of Dodgers players suggesting they aren’t too thrilled about having to fly to Australia. Arizona, meanwhile, seem to have embraced the concept rather than simply biding their time until they get to return home.
