We’ve seen some stunning finishes in the golf in recent weeks and it was no different this weekend as Zach Johnson produced a remarkable chip shot on the 18th to send the World Challenge to a playoff and eventually score a narrow win over world No.1 Tiger Woods.
The 2007 US Masters champion looked to be out of contention when he shanked his approach to the 18th, but incredibly his chip shot recovery landed just past the hole then rolled back in to keep him in contention.
Woods then found the bunker on the first playoff hole and couldn’t recover as Johnson took home the trophy.

The Ashes cricket continued in Adelaide with Australia taking a dominant 2-0 lead in the series. Once again it was captain Michael Clarke and fast bowler Mitchell Johnson doing the damage. Clarke’s 148 in the first innings was the cornerstone of the Aussies’ huge first innings total of 9/570 while Johnson terrorized the tourists with the ball as he took seven first innings wickets. With the next Test scheduled to start in Perth later this week, it looks like the Ashes are almost certainly heading back to Australia after four years in England.
We witnessed a thriller in the NFL with the 49ers pipping divisional rivals Seattle thanks to a late field goal. The crucial win sees them improve to 9-4 while the Seahawks fell to just their seconds loss of the season, although both sides will be pleased with how they are now sitting.
And some big match-ups in the NBA saw Chicago stun Miami with a 20-point win at the United Center, while Indiana won the battle of the big guns in San Antonio with a 111-100 win over Spurs.
