The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has released the schedule for the 49th annual WSOP, with the world’s most prestigious tournament series to kick off on 29 May 2018 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The exhausting schedule runs for almost two months through to 17 July 2018 and boasts a whopping 78 bracelet events, including the event every poker player on the planet dreams of winning – the WSOP Main Event – which will run from Monday 2 July to Saturday 14 July.
Among the new additions at the 2018 WSOP are a US$100,000 buy-in High Roller event, US$50,000 High Roller, US$365 PLO Giant and a US$1,500 “The Closer” boasting 15,000 starting stacks and 30-minute levels.
This year will also see the return of the US$1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop, which will be the final event on the schedule starting on Thursday 15 July.
“With today’s announcement, we hope there is enough time to adjust your holiday wish list,” said WSOP Tournament Director Jack Effel. “We feel very good about the multitude of offerings on the 2018 World Series of Poker schedule and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Rio in Las Vegas this summer.”
The WSOP famously began in 1970 when Benny Binion invited seven of the world’s best players to the Horseshoe Casino to compete against one another in a series of cash games, with the winner, Johnny Moss, decided by a vote from his peers.
