You can tell how popular this place is from the long queue at the door. The menu has few choices, but after one bite you can instantly tell how authentic the cuisine is. Glass noodles, ku tiu, rice noodles or just plain noodles are on offer. They can go with wontons, pork chop, meatballs, fresh beef or beef balls. The spotlight goes to the sweet onion soup that serves as the base for the noodles. The glass noodles on their own are somewhat tasteless, but when soaked in the soup they become irresistible. You may add sweet and sour sauce or chili into your bowl.
I’m a fan of glass noodles and those meatballs, and since they are handmade, they are soft and spongy to eat. If you like chewy noodles, try ku tiu. A warning though – don’t ever order by yelling “ng goi” in this shop as the boss lady will yell at you to be patient. She will come to your table when she decides she is “free”. Don’t worry! She remembers the order of customers as they come in, so everyone will get their bowls of noodles in turn.
